2022 Pemi Staff
We are just a few short days away from the start of Pemis 115th summer! The staff has been hard at work getting ready for the campers’ arrival on June 25th, and the energy at camp is palpable. At the time of this writing, crews are off at Senior Beach putting in lane lines, at the batting cage hanging up the netting, in the Nature Lodge assembling displays, in the Junior Lodge organizing music equipment, and up at the Mess Hall arranging tables. Pemi’s staff works tirelessly during the course of our clinic and preseason weeks to ensure that boys can hit the ground running when they arrive on Saturday.
As you prepare for your own journeys to Lower Baker this weekend (or, for our alumni, as you dream wistfully of returning), we want to take the time to introduce you to this amazing group of staff members. It is a truly remarkable assembly of individuals, with myriad talents, backgrounds, and experiences. This summer’s staff hails from nine different nations and 21 states, and includes highly skilled athletes, musicians, artists, teachers and so much more. While all of our staff members bring their own unique talents, personalities, and passions to Pemi, they are united by their shared desire to contribute to building a welcoming, caring, and fun environment for all this summer! This newsletter introduces you to our directors, cabin staff, trip counselors, program staff, and nurses. You’ll meet the rest of the team in a subsequent post. Please read on to learn all about this stellar crew!

My father attended Pemi in the late 1930s and early 1940s, Tom Reed Sr. was his counselor in Senior II. After three years as a camper, I returned to Pemi to work in maintenance before becoming a counselor in 1987. This year I will be a utility player, supporting the program, the kitchen, grounds and maintenance, and trips.
Pat Clare – Assistant Director – 2022 will be my second summer as assistant director and my 13th summer at Pemi overall. I’m coming off of my first off-season working year-round for Pemi. That has been an amazing experience in its own right, but if anything it has left me more excited than ever for another summer at Pemi! I can’t wait for Pemi to fill up with staff and campers for our 115th summer! A New Yorker born and raised, I now reside in Boston when not at Pemi. I’ll be joined at camp by my dog, Kemba, for his second Pemi summer!
