Year after year, parents of campers sing the praises of Pemi staff members and the profound impact they’ve had on their sons. Alumni who stop by for a visit never fail to mention the counselors and instructors who inspired them to become the best version of themselves. Working at Pemi is a joy. It’s also hard work, and when you give it your all, as our staff is known to do, it’s crucial to have some downtime in order to be at the top of your game with your campers. That’s why we provide facilities for our staff that offer space to exercise, relax, cook a light meal, write reports, and catch up with relationships and responsibilities outside of camp.
Facilities to Relax and Recharge
Weight Room
Pemi’s Weight Room is a covered, open-air building tucked behind the main athletic fields. A variety of olympic free-weights, dumbbells, squat racks, and bench presses are available for any staff member to use. Every year, Pemi looks to provide new and useful equipment to our collegiate athletes and fitness enthusiasts, with the most recent example of adding a Concept 2 Erg.
Staff Lodge - new for 2021!
In the fall of 2019, Pemi embarked upon a major construction project that will be ready for the 2021 season: a multi-use lodge dedicated for staff use. This two-story building—tucked into the woods and with a sweeping view over Pemi’s playing fields and down to the lake—has a kitchen, TV room, game room, quiet room for those who need to work, and living space for one or two people. In the heart of the staff lodge is a common space, anchored by a stunning fireplace crafted from old stone walls from Pemi’s own land.
