Meet Pemi’s Directors & Staff
Welcome to Camp Pemigewassett!
We appreciate your interest in Pemi. Since 1908, boys from around the world have gathered for a season of fun in our unplugged, natural setting, where they live in a trusting and inclusive community, discover new passions, gain confidence and independence, develop practical skills, and create friendships that last a lifetime.
It sounds grand to say “a summer at Pemi is a life-changing experience,” but alums express this time and time again, even those who spent only one or two summers with us.
How best to convey “Pemi” to you? We’ve designed one section of our website to speak directly to prospective campers so that they might imagine what it is like to be at camp, and another for parents so that they might imagine what it is like to be at home with a son away at camp. We know that this adventurous step affects the whole family. We’d love to connect with you to discuss your goals for summer camp and look forward to answering your questions via video chat, phone call, email, or a personal visit in the comfort of your living room.

During the school year Deb and her husband Brian live in Austin, TX, where she brings earth science and space science outreach programs into elementary and middle schools, all over the eastern half of Texas. Deb joined Pemi’s Nature Program staff in 2008, becoming Head of the Nature Program in 2020.

As Head of Waterfront, she and other Pemi staff cover everything from teaching the basics to those new to swimming, to coaching the most accomplished swimmers on the squad. She writes, “Enabling the boys to have fun in the water whilst they develop new skills is the most rewarding experience and a job I feel so lucky to do.” Charlotte notes that Pemi is clearly an important place for growing boys to learn responsibly, build lifelong friendships and have fun, and she finds it a privilege to be a part of an inclusive and nurturing camp, representing one of Pemi’s strong female Pemi role-models and supporting the boys in their many endeavours. During the off-season, Charlotte is studying to become a doctor at Barts Medical School in London. She also trains as a distance runner throughout the year, a passion which she tries to instill in Pemi campers during the summers!
Phil Landry
Head of Fishing
Phil is a former camper, cabin counselor, division-head and visiting professional at Pemi. Camp helped foster a love of teaching, which led Phil into a masters degree in education, but not into the classroom. He has been a fly-fishing guide and instructor since 2004 in both Tennessee and Arkansas where he charters fly fishing excursions on over 20 different rivers. In 2022 Phil began returning for full summers again and started building a fishing program at Pemi. Phil has begun a program that teaches campers to become capable, safe, and responsible anglers. Campers now must acquire their Pemi Fishing License to fish unsupervised during free time and follow our regulations and safety guidelines. They learn knots, skills, and angling ethics while increasing their chances of catching fish on their own. Phil also started a rod building activity at Pemi so that boys can custom build their own fishing rod and take it home with them. 2025 will be Phil’s 16th summer at Pemi. Aside from fishing at camp, he is also the Skipper of “The Flagship” of Pemi sports, aka the head baseball coach of the 15 and under baseball team.
