Summer Camp Sports Program

Pemi is the best sports summer camp for athletic boys to become well-rounded young men. Our campers receive topnotch instruction with a focus on technical development and team tactics, plenty of playing time, and high-level inter-camp competition, while also having the opportunity to discover new interests and tap into new talents in our other program areas: Water Sports, Nature, Music, Art, Woodworking,  Drama, and Hiking & Canoeing. This becomes especially important as boys grow older and their tastes, curiosity, and perspectives develop.

An Excellent Sports Program

Athletes return to Pemi year after year, knowing they’ll be in top physical condition for school, ready to resume their place on a team and/or be prepared to try out for a new sport, having been introduced to one at camp that they’d never tried before. Pemi’s Sports Program is known for excellent coaching from beginner to advanced levels.

During free time, you’ll see pick-up basketball, pickleball, batting practice, beach tennis, singles or doubles tennis, small-sided soccer games and more happening around you. Join in, or start something new. Throughout the afternoon and evening coaches are available to support both dedicated and aspiring athletes to work on their game and improve their strength and fitness. With parental permission, boys ages 14 and 15 are allowed to use the staff weight room with counselor supervision. If your school or club has a fitness schedule/plan, our dedicated coaches will help you to meet your goals.

Coaches

Setting the standard is Charlie Malcolm, Athletic Director and head of Pemi’s Sports Program. Charlie holds a Premier License from the National Soccer Coaches Association, and coaches both soccer and baseball at Northfield Mount Hermon School. The NMH soccer program is nationally recognized for excellence and has won a record six New England Class A Championships.

Most of the counselors who coach, instruct, and officiate are college athletes, and many of them have years of experience. All of the heads of individual sports have at the very least high school coaching experience, and several have coached on the college level. Each summer, Pemi brings in guest coaches to offer specialized instruction in their sport.

As an athlete at Pemi, you’ll also have the opportunity to discover new interests and tap into new abilities by trying activities in our other program areas: Water Sports, Nature and Woodworking, Music, Art, & Drama and Hiking & Canoeing.
